Teaching preschoolers requires a lot of creativity and planning. The good news? You don’t have to do it alone!
Introducing Google Bard, your personal assistant creative director. Google Bard is a chatbot that uses artificial intelligence to answer any question you might have in a very human-like manner using, well, all the resources on the internet. Assistant teachers don’t get much more qualified than that!
Setting up Google Bard is really super duper easy.
- Click on the Google Bard button above, and you will be transported to the Google Bard website. Alternatively, paste this URL into your search box: https://bard.google.com/
- To use Bard, you will need to be signed into your Google account. If you’re signed in, great. If not, you need to do so. If you don’t yet have a Google account, you make one here.
- Nearly there! Now simply agree to all the Ts&Cs and you’re off! As Bard keeps warning you, it’s not yet perfect and still very much under development. So be careful and wise, but have fun and test out Bard’s capabilities.
Here’s a quick recap on how to set up Bard. It shouldn’t take much more than 30 seconds:
The possibilities with Bard are endless, but here are a few tried and tested prompts that will get you on the right track.
I designed these prompts using the flamingo from the Ff section of the workbook, but you can try it out with any letter/animal you like:
- What are some flamingo crafts to do with preschoolers?
- What are some easy words that start with f?
- What are some fun facts about flamingos?
- Write a story/story/poem for preschoolers about flamingos.
- Give me a fun lesson plan for teaching the letter f to preschoolers.
These prompts are more generic in that they could apply to any lesson you teach:
- What tips do you have for giving fun lessons to preschoolers?
- What competitions can I play with preschoolers?
- How can I teach kinesthetic/auditory/visual leaners the alphabet?
- What easy words rhyme with spoon?
- What can I make for preschoolers using recycled materials?
- What art projects can I do with preschoolers?
If you’re feeling completely helpless, you can even try out, “I don’t know what to do with my preschoolers today! Help!” You’ll be surprised by what cool suggestions Bard has to offer.
Once you’ve tried out some prompts of your own, please share them in the comments section so that all the other teachers can use them:
